Let’s Talk: What Is Brow Correction and Why Grey Tones Come Back?

Updated: 3 days ago

Okay, so you’ve had your brows done before—but now they’re looking a little… off. Maybe they’ve turned grey, blue-ish, or even reddish over time. That’s totally normal, and that’s where brow correction comes in.

What is brow correction?

It’s a treatment designed to fix old or discolored brow tattoos. We don’t just cover it up—we use color theory to neutralize unwanted tones like grey, blue, red, or purple.

By adding specific “corrector” pigments (usually warm tones), we can balance out those cool or uneven shades and start to build a better, more natural brow.

Why does the grey come back?

Here’s the thing: when we do a correction, we’re working closer to the surface of the skin.

The old pigment—especially if it was done deep or dark—can still sit underneath.

Over time, the corrector fades faster than the older ink, and the original grey or blue color can resurface again. It doesn’t mean your correction failed—it just means more sessions may be needed to keep lifting and rebalancing the tone.

Who is a good candidate for brow correction?

Brow correction is perfect for you if:

- You have an old tattoo that has faded into grey, blue, red, or even purple.

- Your old shape is uneven or too saturated to just go over with a new color.

- You want to lighten or adjust your brows before starting fresh.

- You’re not happy with your old brow work but still have some pigment left (even if it’s been years!).

Not suitable if:

- Your old brows are too dark or deeply saturated—in this case, you might need laser or saline removal first.

- You’ve had multiple touch-ups that built up heavy scarring or pigment layers.

- You’re currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

We always recommend a consultation before deciding on the right plan!

How many sessions will I need?

It really depends on the condition of your old tattoo, your skin type, and what you’re hoping to achieve. Some clients only need 1-2 correction sessions. Others may need 3 or more, followed by new shaping or microblading once the canvas is ready.

In short…

Correction is a journey—but a worthwhile one if you’re ready to refresh your look and love your brows again.
